Ever since its release early last year, The Sims has had powerful and lasting appeal. Whether it's the lure of manipulating a family of artificial people, building homes, or managing all the aspects of a career and lifestyle at your own pace, the Sims has that special quality that has garnered millions of fans. The beauty of the game that Will Wright created, though, is that it emulates real life, meaning it has an endless base of possibilities to draw from for future expansions, and it is also modular in design, meaning it's fairly easy for the designers to plug in new components to enrich the game.

In the not too distant past, I was absolutely addicted to The Sims. In the past year, though, my desire for the game has waned as I have exhausted every conceivable option and action in the game. Then I received the Hot Date expansion pack, and once again I am hooked. This expansion pack is fantastic. There you are. That's my review, no need to read any further.

Players can have their Sims ask each other out on a date or try their luck with an in-game dating service. Arrange to meet another Sim Downtown at exciting and romantic locations that the player can create. Everything from a candlelit dinner, a drink at the bar or a rendezvous in the park is possible as your Sim attempts to orchestrate an evening to remember.
